We had been looking forward to travel for the first time with Diego and his grandparents for weeks. I cant believe our trip its already over and it has become a memory, a great one though. I think I fell in love with San Francisco, this city has charm and everything about it is beautiful.
We were able to spend 5 days in this city, and let me tell you there was never a dull moment. There is something wonderful about spending time with family, and getting to know new places. We left SLC and flew to San Jose, then took a train to San Francisco. We blended right in with the locals, getting around in all forms of transportation during our trip (bus, train, metro, trolley, ferry)
We stayed in Downtown San Francisco, and were within walking distance of the famous Union Square District. Our first few days we bought tickets to hop on the double decker buses that toured the city. I loved them because they gave you a good taste of everything the city had to offer, then you go and visit whatever you like. We visited the Golden Gate Bridge, the Young Museum, Fisherman's Wharf, ate delicious pizza and canolies in Little Italy, Sausalito, Golden Gate Park, Alcatraz, attended some local events like Off the Grid (a mobile food extravaganza) were I ate a one delicious Korean chicken waffle sandwich, yay for me being brave and willing to try weird looking things.
One thing I did not love was the weather, I mean it cant be all perfect right!? It was so cold and windy, I never thought I would look forward to Utah weather, but those days I did. I wish we would have done a bit more research prior to going, I packed pretty much all summer clothes, and ended up buying jackets, and sweatshirts because I was freezing.
We had a great time! We walked a lot and ate a lot, isn't that what people do on vacations anyways?!
I find myself singing the song, "If you go to San Francisco, make sure you wear some flowers in your hair...", they played it in the double decker buses all the time. I would love to visit this city again, it left me somewhat of a nostalgic feeling.
